I am looking for a small car, like- Toyota corolla or echo, Honda civic or Nissan altima. The car model should be in 2000 or later, and near 100,000 miles.
By the way, I live in New Jersey.

It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net
A good, small, used car will generally cost around 3k.
Searching your local craigslist, or classifieds will net you a more specific price.
If you do not care about the make or specific model you may well find a Kia or Hyundai with 50-75k miles for the same price.
So look an craigslist in your area. That will give you a good idea of the selling price oft the cars you are looking for
