Put in your zip code at site above, and see for yourself.
Depends upon where you live mostly and what you consider “big”.
The average wedding in the US is around $28k last I heard and that takes into account the small weddings and large weddings and varying prices around the country.
I am having what I would consider a “big” wedding (inviting 200 guests) and I live in a pricier area of the country (not the highest, but $50 per plate for dinner isn’t in the lower-priced areas that some people on YA have – - like under $20). I have – for my area – a modest budget that to some is over-the-top and have had to cut back on alot of things to have the wedding I want.
I’d guess that in a low-to-moderate area of the country, $20k to $30k should cover you for a nice and large wedding. If you are in a pricier area, at least $40k.
Generally, go with whatever you can afford. Also, define “big”. We are having ~215 people and have currently spent $138k. We are having a traditional, classic wedding with a sit down luncheon reception, afternoon dancing and an evening sit down meal. The “average” is skewed by large, elaborate weddings and small, inexpensive courthouse affairs. Don’t go into debt over one day, just make up a budget and work within it.
The average wedding is somewhere between $25,000 and $30,000. However, it really depends on what type of items you are planning on having, what time of day it is, how many people you are inviting, etc. The more people you have, the more you have to feed, the bigger the venue, the more centerpieces for your tables, etc.
I know a lot of people that spend a lot less on their weddings though. It just really depends on you and your fiance, and how extravagant you want it to be.
not sure what you classify as a big wedding – but for the works (including dinner and bar, band or DJ) for 200 – at least 10,000.00.
You can do it for less – but depending on your dress, how many attendants, etc it will still be upwards of 6000.00
define big?
because my family is huge, i can think of 200 people i pretty much NEED to invite without trying, my idea of big is a bit skewed
about $60,000 – $80,000 – that is if you want a “nice” big wedding
Big weddings can end up being incredibly expensive. You are looking at about $10,000 at the very least. You can easily find yourself getting into thousands more than that as well.
